dancing shadows hide this likeness
as i fall asleep in the sweetness of your memory
awaiting, apprehending
yet completely at peace
and the world could stop today
and nothing would remain unsaid
regretted
lost in the wind are these pages unwritten
spoken word i release, with my tongue, to the darkness
improv poetry never again to be repeated
repeated
repeatedly, you fumble through me
as i worry, i stare.. i comprehend each of your fates
your travels, your dreams
i hope you find yourself, out there
in this perplexity, this divinity, this simplicity
your own mind, your own destruction
your own heart, lost and buried within the bruises
or lack there of
and i tasted the rain tonight
clouds looming, moon setting
behind palm trees and the silhouettes
of dancing street corners
a cat's wail, a siren's screech
darting to and fro in this brightness

yet always desiring more...
lost thoughts roaming long distances
tile shining reflections of future hopes into my eyes
glimmer of a distant dream yet to grasp
with peacefulness in this everyday moment
within a breath, a gasp
twilight of infinite knowledge looming overhead
i want to be a poet, a screenwrite, a revolutionary, instead
i wish to travel across seas and stretch my arms through ever ranging lands
with different winds, gales, and awaiting thunderstorms at every destination
i ache to breathe in the air of ancient civilizations
smell dusty old books and paint with words
bright colors of crimson orange and vibrant red
with emerald teeth smiling from faces belonging to flashing eyes, welcoming each stranger into their own version of a home
i want to find a home in the deep textures of her skin, nuzzle in the sweetness of her gold and amber folds
empty roads with inviting crevaces
offering me her hand as we journey through them together.
i dream of Africa, Italy, Paris, and Thailand
of sunstroked barefeet pressing upon the crackled, crisp surface of brazen ground
stretching out toetips to reach the refreshing drink of oceans edge, lapping up the moisture
with porous, open skin
filling my lungs with the renewal of a fresh day, a new start
another hope.
and these are the things my heart drifts to as my mind runs through the scenery of another life
where the music outside is not muffled by locked doors, silence masking its rhythms
where i am out when night falls, dancing in the street
welcoming defeat
because i no longer need to win
i wish to begin
again.
